BOTANY - Salvia Divinorum

Salvia Divinorum

"The term Salvia Divinorum literally translates as "divine herb." The plant is also known by more popular names such as: Ska (Maria) Pastora, shepherdess leaf, magic mint, sava, hierba de los dioses, etc. It originates from the Mexican mountains of Sierra Madre, in Oaxaca. It is used in this region by the healers of the Mazatec Indians in different rituals. The plant is used primarily when shamans feel the need to discover the cause of a patient's illness in the supernatural world. The shamans enter a visionary trance that allows them to see the steps to take to heal the patient."
